Programme Design

 

              Currently the degrees offered by the college are all three-year programmes. Following the National Policy on the introduction of Semester System in the Indian Universities, the Nagaland University has introduced the semester system from 2012 academic session.

 

              A minimum of 3 years (6 semesters) and a maximum of 5 years (10 semesters) shall be required to qualify for B.A. and B.Sc. degrees. The duration of semester I, III & V (Odd semester) shall be from July to December (6 months). The duration of semester II, IV & VI (Even semester) shall be from January to June (6 months). The performance of a student shall be evaluated on a 30:70 basis; 30 marks for Internal Assessment and 70 marks for End-Semester Examination. A student shall have to secure a minimum of 45% marks in the Internal Assessment, and 45% marks in the End-Semester Examination in theory papers.

 

              For Science a student shall have to secure minimum 55% marks in practical to be considered passed. A student shall be deemed qualified to appear at the End-Semester Examination only if the student secures minimum qualifying marks in the Internal Assessment Tests and maintain 80% Attendance separately in every subject. Advancement to the next semester shall be permitted only with a maximum of two backlog papers from the preceding semester. Further, entry to the next semester shall be regulated at the level of 4th, 5th and 6th semester.
